I like to have skin in the game, so I prefer equity as part of compensation.
Founders reach out when they’re building a product without a designer — or when they have one and don’t know how to grow from there. I’ve been on both sides: solo designer from first screen to Series B, and building design teams from zero twice. The sweet spot is a technical product or developer tool, pre-seed through Series A.
